Golden Hour & Amber Leaves: A Romantic Toronto Pre-Wedding Photoshoot in Autumn

There is a fleeting, magical window in Toronto when the air turns crisp, and the city transforms into a living canvas of gold, amber, and crimson. For us at Rafael Wong Photography, autumn isn’t just a season; it’s the most romantic backdrop nature has to offer.

Looking back at this stunning session from last fall, we are reminded exactly why October and November are the most sought-after months for pre-wedding photography in the GTA.

Chasing the Golden Canopy

Toronto’s foliage is world-renowned, specifically the Maple trees that turn a vibrant, burning yellow. For this session, we ventured into a quiet, wooded enclave where the trees created a natural "tunnel of love."

As you can see in the photos, the transition of colors was at its peak. The canopy above filtered the sunlight, casting a soft, warm glow that is incredibly flattering for skin tones. It creates a dreamlike quality that you simply cannot replicate in a studio.

Intimacy Amidst the Rustling Leaves

The beauty of shooting in a forest setting is the privacy it affords. Away from the busy downtown streets, our couple was able to focus entirely on each other.

We love capturing those quiet, tender moments—a gentle kiss on the forehead, a shared laugh, or a silent gaze. The vibrant orange background serves to highlight the couple, making their white dress and grey vest pop with elegance. The contrast between the cool tones of the groom's suit and the warm tones of the leaves created a perfect color balance.

Rustic Textures and Fall Vibes

No fall photoshoot is complete without incorporating rustic elements. We utilized the weathered wooden fences lining the trail to add texture and leading lines to the composition.

Whether leaning casually against the wood or walking hand-in-hand along the leaf-strewn path, the setting felt timeless. The carpet of fallen leaves on the ground added a layer of depth and "crunch" that you can almost hear through the photos.

Why Book a Fall Pre-Wedding Shoot?

If you are planning your wedding for next year, we highly recommend booking your pre-wedding or engagement session for the upcoming autumn season.

  1. The Lighting: The sun sits lower in the sky, providing a longer "Golden Hour" and softer shadows.

  2. The Comfort: The temperature is cool enough to wear suits and gowns without overheating, but warm enough to be comfortable.

  3. The Romance: There is simply nothing more romantic than walking through a forest of gold with the one you love.
