Royal Ashburn Golf Club Wedding Photography | Rafael Wong
There is something truly magical about a wedding where nature and elegance intertwine perfectly. Recently, I had the honor of capturing a breathtaking wedding at the Royal Ashburn Golf Club, just north of Toronto. With its towering trees, serene ponds, and charming architecture, this location provided the perfect canvas for a love story that felt like it was lifted straight from a fairytale.
The Location: Royal Ashburn Golf Club
For couples looking for a venue that offers a blend of manicured landscapes and wild, natural beauty, Royal Ashburn is a hidden gem. As a photographer, I am always scouting for locations that offer variety, and this venue delivers in every aspect.
The ceremony took place in front of their iconic white chapel structure. Framed by lush greenery, the white wood creates a striking contrast that makes the couple pop in every frame. It offers that classic "church wedding" feel while allowing you to enjoy the open air and natural light—a photographer's dream.
We also took advantage of the venue's water features. The wooden dock extending over the calm water provided a serene, reflective setting for intimate portraits. The vast, open greens surrounded by tall, mature trees allowed for wide, dramatic shots where the bride’s gown could truly shine.
Tips for Shooting at Royal Ashburn:
Utilize the Shade: The tall trees provide excellent diffusion for sunlight, meaning we can get soft, flattering portraits even during the brighter parts of the day.
The Chapel Backdrop: The white chapel is perfect for symmetry. Standing centered in the archway creates a powerful, romantic composition.
The Dock: Don't skip the waterfront! The wooden textures of the dock contrast beautifully with the softness of a wedding dress.
The Couple: A Quiet, Radiant Love
The connection between this bride and groom was palpable. They didn't need grand gestures to show their love; it was evident in the quiet moments.
The bride looked absolutely regal in a long-sleeved, sequined ballgown topped with a delicate tiara. One of my favorite moments was capturing her mother helping with the veil—a tender, emotional exchange that signifies the transition into a new chapter of life.
The groom, looking sharp in a classic navy suit, brought a sense of calm strength. Whether they were standing hand-in-hand at the altar or sharing a private laugh under the canopy of trees, their chemistry made my job effortless. There was a gentle joy in the way he looked at her, and a radiant confidence in her smile.
Capturing their day at Royal Ashburn was a reminder of why I love wedding photography: it’s about freezing these fleeting moments of joy against a backdrop that will look just as beautiful fifty years from now.
